Louisiana offers some of the most exciting sight-fishing opportunities in the country. Endless shallow-water ponds, winding bayous, grass shorelines, and expansive marsh systems create an incredible environment for targeting redfish on fly.

Sight Fishing for Louisiana Redfish

What makes Louisiana special is the opportunity to hunt for redfish in shallow water.

Rather than blind casting, the goal is to find individual fish, watch their behavior, and make a carefully placed cast.

Louisiana’s marsh is a fascinating contrast to the mangrove-lined creeks and remote backcountry waters of the Florida Everglades.

Both fisheries reward anglers who enjoy exploring wild places, reading water, and sight-fishing to individual fish.

Fishing new water is also one of the things I enjoy most about being a full-time fly fishing guide. Every destination offers something to learn, and those experiences make me a better guide back home in the Everglades.

From Louisiana to the Florida Everglades

Although I’m spending time fishing Louisiana’s marsh, my home waters remain the Everglades, Naples, and Ten Thousand Islands of Southwest Florida.

At Everglades Guide Services, we specialize in private fly fishing trips targeting tarpon, snook, and redfish throughout the remote Everglades backcountry.

Whether I’m exploring Louisiana’s marshes or poling through the Everglades, the goal remains the same: finding fish in beautiful, uncrowded places and enjoying the experience.
